In December 2013, Geico, a lead insurance company, decided to expand their operations into Katy, Texas with a new claims center. The company already had a presence in the area with a sales office in Houston before the decision to move into the 135,000 square-foot building in Katy was made.

Gov. Rick Perry today joined GEICO chairman and CEO Tony Nicely to announce the company will be expanding its Katy operations, creating 1,000 new jobs over the next three years and $8.5 million in capital investment.

Gov. Rick Perry has announced the Texas Emerging Technology Fund (TETF) is investing $1.75 million in Minimus Spine Inc. to support its non-surgical lumbar disc herniation technology. The company is working with Texas A&M University to develop and commercialize this technology.

The Milkin Institute has named Austin the best performing city in its annual ranking of metropolitan areas, and recognized Dallas and Houston in the top 10. Seven of the report’s top 25 best-performing cities in 2013 are in Texas.

Gov. Rick Perry today joined Gordon Coburn, president of Cognizant, to present the company's $150,000 science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) grant to Texas A&M University. The grant comes in the form of a three-year commitment from Cognizant and will support the promotion of STEM education programs through the National Center for Therapeutics Manufacturing (NCTM) at Texas A&M University.

AUSTIN – Gov. Rick Perry today announced Natgasoline LLC is expanding its Beaumont operations, creating 240 jobs and a projected capital investment of more than $1 billion. The state is providing $2.1 million through the Texas Enterprise Fund (TEF) to close the deal on this expansion and job creation. Execution of the state's agreement is contingent upon finalization of a local incentive offer as required by program criteria.

AUSTIN – Gov. Rick Perry today announced Oracle is expanding its operations in Austin, establishing an additional office and creating 200 jobs. The company plans to invest $5.4 million in the project. The state is providing $1 million through the Texas Enterprise Fund (TEF) to close the deal on this expansion and job creation.

Gov. Rick Perry announced the Texas Emerging Technology Fund (TETF) is awarding $1 million to the Center for the Advancement of Non-Metallics in Energy Sectors (CANES). The investment will accelerate research programs and commercial developments focused on the application of high performance polymers in energy sector applications, and is a collaboration between Texas A&M University, the Consortium for Advancing Performance Polymers in Energy Applications at the Texas A&M Polymer Technology Center, and Element Materials Technology Hitchin.

Gov. Rick Perry today announced a $3 million investment through the Texas Emerging Technology Fund (TETF) to create the Center for Cell and Organ Biotechnology in collaboration with the Texas Heart Institute (THI) and Texas A&M University College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences.
