Oracle to build major Austin campus

Part of Global Hiring Initiative to Drive Oracle Cloud Expansion and Attract Top Millennial Talent

Redwood Shores, Calif. - To keep pace with rapid cloud growth, Oracle unveiled plans to construct a next-generation technology campus in Austin, Texas. The company also confirmed that it will purchase housing for employees to live affordably and conveniently nearby. Today’s announcement underscores Oracle’s commitment to its employees and to the cloud, as the company continues to hire aggressively around the world.

AUSTIN - Governor Greg Abbott today announced that GM Financial will expand operations in Texas by building a financial servicing center in San Antonio, Texas. This project is expected to create at least 490 jobs and at least $20 million in capital investment in the State of Texas. A Texas Enterprise Fund (TEF) grant offer of $2.5 million has been extended to GM Financial.

WACO, Texas - Coca-Cola Refreshments receives tax abatement incentive through the expansion of its Waco, Texas presence with a $13.3 million investment of a new blow-molding line for in-house production of bottles within its facility in the Texas Central Park. The facility will retain 327 permanent, full-time positions.

Governor Abbott will lead a delegation to Havana, Cuba where he will hold meetings and events to focus on travel, trade and exports from Monday, November 30th to Wednesday, December 2nd. While in Cuba, Governor Abbott will meet with officials from Cuba’s Ministry of Foreign Trade and Investment, Port of Mariel, Cimex (Cuban Export-Import Corporation), Cuba Chamber of Commerce, Alimport (Cuban Export Company and Food Importer) and various economic institutions. This will be Governor Abbott’s second international business development trip since taking office.

AUSTIN – Governor Greg Abbott has appointed Steve Head, Mark Griffin, Alejandro “Alex” Meade, Mike Rollins, Nancy Windham, and Sanjiv Yajnik to the Texas Economic Development Corporation for terms set to expire at the pleasure of the Governor. The governor additionally designated Sanjiv Yajnik as presiding officer. The corporation supports programs and activities of the Governor’s Division of Economic Development and Tourism, including TexasOne, which markets Texas competitively and dynamically to businesses outside the state of Texas.

First Lady Cecilia Abbott was in Houston today to talk about the important role that women-owned small businesses play in the success of our state’s economy. The First Lady addressed the small business forum titled “Women Exceeding Limits,” which was hosted by the Texas Governor’s Office, the Texas Workforce Commission, the Women’s Business Enterprise Alliance, and the Houston Galveston Women’s Business Center. First Lady Abbott handed out the 2015 Governor’s Small Business Awards and honored the recipients.
